Speaking of “one-horned,” that’s what unicorn literally means. Borrowed into English by the early 1200s from French, unicorn comes from the Latin unicornis, “having one horn.” This root joins uni-, meaning “one,” and cornu, “horn.” (The Latin is a loan translation of the Greek monokeros, its equivalent of “one horn” and passing into English as monoceros.)
While the word unicorn isn’t evidenced in English until the Middle Ages, descriptions of the unicorn—believed, in antiquity, to be a real animal—are far older. One of the earliest known accounts of a one-horned beast comes in the 4th century BC from Ctesias, a Greek physician and historian who traveled in Persia. He wrote of a fast and formidable creature, about the size of a donkey, with a long, multicored horn. It lived in India, where unicorn-like images have been found on ancient seals.

After a sweeping, 22-month investigation, Robert S. Mueller III found there was insufficient evidence to establish that Mr. Trump or his associates engaged in a criminal conspiracy with Russia to disrupt the 2016 election.
- NY Times
One of the biggest questions of the past two years — something that fueled the news coverage, the federal investigation and congressional scrutiny — is why so many people around Mr. Trump lied, misled and changed their stories.
Matt Apuzzo
Whether Mr. Trump engaged in obstruction of justice involves complicated legal and constitutional issues that do not apply to ordinary citizens, but the report explicitly says that the inquiry did not clear the president. Adding a link to the quote.

The Chaplain, the Cathedral Fire and the Race to Rescue Notre-Dame’s Relic
PARIS — By the time the Paris Fire Department’s chaplain made his way inside Notre-Dame, flames had already.
But the flames had yet to reach many of the artworks, artifacts and relics, and it was the Rev. Jean-Marc Fournier’s job.
