Radiation Oncology Examination Director
The ACVR Executive Council is seeking applications for the Radiation Oncology (RO) Examination Director position. This announcement is a call for applications. The applicant must be a Diplomate of the Recognized Specialty of Radiation Oncology through the ACVR.
The RO Examination Director will provide leadership and continuity for the RO Examination Committee and will work with the RO Assistant Examination Director and the RO Examination Committee to ensure that a fair and defensible certifying examination is constructed, maintained and delivered each year. It is expected that the RO Examination Director will also work with the ACVR psychometrician to develop, score and set cut points for the examination. The specific roles of the RO Examination Director are outlined in the Policies and Procedures document of the ACVR-RO Examination Director which is attached. Additional pertinent information is available in the Policies and Procedures document of the RO Examination Committee which is also attached.
The RO Examination Director will be appointed for a four-year term. Subsequent terms will be for three years. The initial 4-year term allows for staggered terms with the RO Assistant Examination Director, also a three-year appointment, to ensure continuity in leadership during appointment transitions. The stipend for the RO Examination Director is $7500 (USD)/year.
For this appointment transition, the current RO Examination Director (Dr. Michael Kent) will stay on for a one-year term as past RO Examination Director to advise and help train the newly appointed RO Examination Director.

The closing date for this application is 1 July 2023, or until a suitable candidate is found. Applications will be reviewed by the officers of the Recognized Specialty of Radiation Oncology and the Executive Council and will be appointed by the Executive Council. The individual selected will assume the duties of the position on October 1, 2023.
