Job Summary
Responsible for providing content expertise in Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging, incorporating the discipline in the curriculum, and contributing to scholarly advancement of the field. Will assume various teaching roles, where required, to meet curricular demands and as assigned by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Will provide support in the training of students throughout the DVM curriculum. Will serve as a college-wide content expert in Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging and contribute as an active member of college and university committees. Position reports to the Dean. Academic activities are supervised by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Research activities are supervised by the Associate Dean for Research. Clinical activities are supervised by the Associate Dean for Clinical Services. Professional activities are supervised by the Executive Associate Dean.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities, or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  1. Current theoretical knowledge and clinical skills in the field of veterinary Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging
  2. Organizational skills necessary in prioritizing workload and delegating responsibility when appropriate
  3. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with administration, faculty, staff, students at the college and university levels, and with outside contacts, in a timely manner
  4. Ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality according to state/federal laws

Required Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An earned Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree, and Board certification in Veterinary Radiology, or equivalent residency training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with Diplomate status from the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI). Applicants who have completed formal residency training through an ACVR or ECVDI approved program, or earned a post-DVM graduate degree (MSc or PhD) in veterinary radiology/diagnostic imaging are also encouraged to apply.

Contribute to the training of veterinary students in Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging:
  1. Provide leadership and/or instruction for third-and fourth-year clinical activities
  2. Participate in the Problem-Based learning (PBL) curriculum for first- and second-year students
  3. Develop and present PBL correlative presentations/interactive sessions, and laboratories in Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging as determined in the curriculum development process

Percentage Of Time

Job Duty

Clinical services, including in-house consultations and patient care duties, as negotiated and assigned:
  1. Concurrent engagement in tele-imaging consulting is encouraged

Percentage Of Time
20%

Job Duty

Pursue scholarly endeavors and professional self-development, with opportunities to engage in research, as negotiated:
  1. If tenure track: Develop a self-sustaining research program and participate in development of post-DVM training programs
  2. Participate in local, national, and/or international continuing education programs

Participate in college and university committees. Represent the college to external persons and agencies, including funding agencies

Duties of the Faculty Member are normally performed in a typical office setting, classroom setting, or laboratory setting. Depending on individual professional specialty, curriculum duties may require different environmental settings which may include, but is not limited to classrooms, farms, clinical practices, research and academic laboratories, and other off campus settings. Occasionally the employee is exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in these settings are usually moderate due to telephone calls, office equipment, normal student traffic, and depending on species – animal noises. Some travel is required, and work environment characteristics will change to that of the regional norms. Virtual delivery of the curriculum might be considered based on the characteristics of the needs of the curriculum for this discipline.
