  • Histopathology report:
    • Sertoli cell tumor
  • Prostatic abscess was marsupialized and the dog went on to do well
  • No metastases
  • From Withrow and MacEwen Small Animal Clinical Oncology
    • Cryptochid testes have greater risk for transformation
      • Sertoli cell tumor or seminoma
    • Right testis is more commonly retained and therefore is more frequently seen in cases of tumorogenesis
    • Testicular tumors are most often diagnosed in geriatric male dogs
      • 10 years – median age
    • German shepherd, Afghan hound, Weimaraner, and Shetland sheepdog are predisposed
