Jack Lebel

1933-2022

IN MEMORIAM

Jack Lebel, DVM, PhD, DACVR  (1933-2022)

Jack Lebel passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022, in Fort Collins Colorado. Jack was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on September 16, 1933.

Jack began his university studies at McGill University in Montreal. He later obtained his DVM degree. He then received his PhD degree in Radiation Biology at Colorado State University in 1964. Jack became a diplomate in ACVR and returned to Colorado State University in 1968. Jack took over the Radiology Section in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital following Bill Carlson and Joe Morgan’s departures. Jack was instrumental in establishing and maintaining an excellent program in Radiology at CSU. He took the lead in planning the Radiology facilities in the new Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 1979, and continued service and teaching at CSU until 2000.

Jack never met a person he did not like and treated everyone with a kind smile and helped them in every way he could. Likewise, I have never met a person who did not like and get along well with Jack. He was always looking for ways he could be of assistance. His contributions and legacy in Veterinary Radiology will continue in the students and residents he taught.

Jack is survived by two daughters: Nathalie Fry and Vivianne Serbousek, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
